Heavenly Stitchin' Moment Revisited

More than two years ago, I posted about Heavenly Stitchin Moment here.  Then after awhile, my interest shifted to crochet then knitting.  Eventually, I got a full time job that I completely neglected my cross stitch, hence, haven't frequented the LNS (local needlecraft stores) where I buy my cross stitch materials.  Then, as most of you knew, I am so stressed at work that I came back to cross stitching.  Hobby-wise, it's my first love, so I always come back to it.  And going back to cross stitching means going back and revisting my favorite stores, one of them Heavenly Stitchin' Moment. 

I visited the store some weeks ago to buy my favorite blue erasable marker and also to look into what's new in their patterns and kits.  The feeling is still the same - whenever I am there, I go crazy, I feel like a child in a toy store that I don't wanna leave... I can stay there forever... I wanted to buy all the patterns, threads, notions, etc etc.  Here are some photos of the store:

In this rack, there used to be puzzles, but they are now replaced with Diamond Stitch, I think that's what they call those black boxes.  From what I understand, Diamond Stitch is just like cross stitch, it comes with pattern but instead of thread, you will use beads.  Just don't know what happened with my camera but I am sure I took a photo of a finished piece.  When I go back to the store, I will see to it to take pictures again and will post here.

Then there's this new Great Wall of China cross stitch, which is a bit different from a previous one, (again, I will post a photo soon of the old one to compare) that I, up to this time, am contemplating on getting:

The white circle is not a moon :D, it's the reflection of the light bulb of the store :D

Parrots

I will start this post by showing you my progress on Tropical Fruits.  Not much but I am slowly getting by:

Then last week when I am having a chat about my finished cross stitches with Veron, my high school classmate, she mentioned that if she will do cross stitch, she wanted birds.  So I showed her this pattern from DMC Philippines called Parrots:

When she saw it, she said that it's so pretty.  So I told her why not we do it as our SAL (stitch-a-long) to which she said YES!  But as of the moment she is very busy with seminars and school work, she is a college professor, so we scheduled it by end of this month or June.  I was so excited that I immediately went to the market to buy the threads, total of 44 skeins:

I did not buy fabric as I have some stocks of 18 count.  The pattern called for 14 count Aida, but I always wanted using 18 count.  For 14 count, design size will be 15.1 x 16.6 inches, while for 18 count, it will be 11.7 x 12.8 inches.

It's Raining Threads and Yarns!!!

Yes, it is!  Please, read on...

When I enrolled in Dreams for crochet lessons, I met there Arlene, who came to know about Dreams through this blog.  She enrolled in Hardanger lessons and we became stitching buddies.  She told me about a store where they sell yarns and threads by the kilo.  One kilo of cotton thread costs P170 (around US $4.00) and one kilo of yarn is P270 (more or less US $6.00) So, addicted as we are, we went there.  Let the photos do the talking:

Now, onto my crochet lessons in Dreams.  Do you know that it's very hard for me to concentrate on my lessons there as these are all around me:

Because of these, I am always telling my teacher that I need to rest my eyes for awhile, but in truth, I will stand up and stretch and then . . . touch these beauties and think what I will buy before I leave the store.  Sick?  Yes, I am.  And I need my thread medicine!!!

Bargain and Steals of SINS

Yes, you're reading it correctly, SINS!  As in:  Stuff I'll Never Stitch.  This cross stitch net language is very popular among stitchers, specially to those who have so much stash that one lifetime is not enough to stitch their acquisition.

Last Wednesday, I was in a hurry to buy DMC threads because I wanted to beat the February 1 price increase and to my big surprise, the store where I usually buy my threads because their price is the cheapest already imposed the increase.  I was so mad because they didn't even inform me.  So I called my stitching friend who is also planning to buy plenty and told her what happened.  She then called another store and told me to go there because theirs is still the old price.  So off I went to that store.  And here's the DMC threads that I bought, almost 500 skeins (my wallet was crying):

And while the owner was attending to my list, I browsed through their old stocks of patterns and some kits and I almost jump with joy when I found these Teresa Wentzler's charts:

 This is only P60 ($1.30) while the price at Patterns On Line is $6.99.

This is P80 ($1.80  )  Patterns On Line's price is also $6.99.

Aren't these two are steals?..  But upon seeing that it contains so many backstitches, I think that it will become SINS!

And this kit is so cute that I grabbed it immediately, costing only P200 ($4.50).
