Small Update

I realized I have not posted anything this month, so before June ends, I will show you my small progress on Tropical Fruits.  This was my update as of last year, July 21. It's been a year...how time flies so fast and my stitching has been left behind, LOL!

Lately, my stitching mojo is missing, so to make it return I have started a new cross stitch project, but I will show you first the materials, then on my next post, I will tell you all about it:

I know that I still have lots of UFOs but I am really lazy stitching-wise so I badly need something that will bring back my enthusiasm.  Will update you soon.

Tropical Fruits Update, Clips

I think there's some progress enough to show you in my Tropical Fruits piece, so here it is:

Excuse it for being dirty and all those fold marks.  I got sweaty hands so no matter what I do, all my WIPs got dirty one way or another.  Anyway, as soon as I finish it, I will immediately wash it.

Those of you who have been with me since I started blogging know that I don't use hoops or scroll frames, I just stitched in hand.  That's why clips are very important to me in stitching.  In my post here, I've shown you how I use the clips and also have shown you my clips.

Then sometime two weeks ago, I happen to see these clips from our local bookstore and bought:

Ice Cream

Rabbits

Penguins

Piggies

Snails.  I hope my progress won't be very slow when I will use these clips, LOL!

Doggies

Frogs. I hope Mr. Frog won't visit these friends of his when I use these.

Parrots

I will start this post by showing you my progress on Tropical Fruits.  Not much but I am slowly getting by:

Then last week when I am having a chat about my finished cross stitches with Veron, my high school classmate, she mentioned that if she will do cross stitch, she wanted birds.  So I showed her this pattern from DMC Philippines called Parrots:

When she saw it, she said that it's so pretty.  So I told her why not we do it as our SAL (stitch-a-long) to which she said YES!  But as of the moment she is very busy with seminars and school work, she is a college professor, so we scheduled it by end of this month or June.  I was so excited that I immediately went to the market to buy the threads, total of 44 skeins:

I did not buy fabric as I have some stocks of 18 count.  The pattern called for 14 count Aida, but I always wanted using 18 count.  For 14 count, design size will be 15.1 x 16.6 inches, while for 18 count, it will be 11.7 x 12.8 inches.

Joy In The Journey - FINISHED!

Last Sunday I was able to finish this piece, but I was overloaded with work that when I'm home, I just wanted to sleep, that's why it's only now that I can post about it.  So, here it is, unframed:

I started working on Tropical Fruits, but progress is not that significant so maybe pictures will follow next week.  As of last posting about this project, I think this was the progress I've shown here:

I hope I can finish this soon but I am so slow I think it will take another year or two?... Then hopefully I can go back to my UFO's.  I am planning to follow this schedule:

Cross Stitch Update

I thought my camera has eaten the dust but I found out that it was only the memory stick duo that was defective.  I was thinking of replacing it

But now that my old camera is properly working, I don't know... I'm still enamored with these two and justifying that one of them will be my back-up just in case my old one will not function anymore.  Maybe I am just in love with the colors... We'll see....

It's been awhile since I last touched my Tropical Fruits cross stitch.  Since I started working, I just did crochet and knitting.  Then two weeks ago, I did some cleaning and saw my neglected cross stitch, so I started doing it again.

I noticed the fabric got dirty due to dust.  Anyway, when I'm done with it, all it needs is some proper washing and I guess the fabric will go back to normal.

What I'm Working On

Well, no accomplishment for last week, no finished piece.  The reason is I can't concentrate on one WIP at a time.  Added to that, last Wednesday I was on-leave from work, so I took the opportunity to visit Dreams and had a knitting lesson there.  Crazy huh?!  :-D  How in the world can I finish all the things I have, cross stitch, crochet, and now knitting!  Oh well, I'm crazy and everyone who's been here with me knows that, LOL!

For more than a month, that's very little progress.....

And here's my update on my multi-colored flowers shawl:

I started another doily, the one on the cover.  The thread is Aunt Lydia's No. 10 crochet cotton thread in Wasabi.  It says in the pattern that the doily will ruffle a little but it will flatten after blocking.  But my piece ruffles a lot.  We will see when I finished and blocked it if it will really becomes flat.

And here's my knitting practice.  This is going to be a shawl but we will see if it will become one or something else, LOL!

Cross Stitch Update

Life's been so busy that I wasn't able to get online these last few days, and most of all, didn't get to read all the blogs in my list.  And it will still be so busy this week and the next.  Sometimes, I was thinking of not blogging anymore but I know that I will miss you all my online friends . . .  I wish I could stop the clock while blogging, and also while stitching . . .

Anyway, here's my latest progress on the Tropical Fruits.  I know it's been awhile since the last time I posted an update and to recap that progress, here it was last May 23:

It's almost a month and my progress is not that remarkable.  Yeah, I know what you're thinking, it's because of my crocheting, LOL!  But I'm having fun :-D

Just dropping by to show my progress on Tropical Fruits.  Will post more when things go back to normal.  My mother-in-law is in the hospital due to leukemia and I am praying, hoping and wishing that she will be alright and that everything will be fine.  She's one of the kindest persons I've ever known.

Being Good, Blocking

Last Saturday, I had colds so I stayed home the whole day being good by finishing all the backstitches on Morning Lake.  Isn't it funny that I had to be sick just to finished it?  :-D

Also last week, I did post this photo of my doily project which was unwashed and unblocked:

Last Sunday, I washed it and blocked.  Kim asked what blocking is all about.  You can find here the explanation.  But in short, it is the method of “molding” or "stretching" your finished work into the shape that you desire.

I used this styrofoam as my blocking board where I cut my needle organizers from:

Here's the doily being blocked while still wet after washing:

I thought blocking is as easy as 1-2-3.  But it is not.  I think I've spent more than 30 minutes trying to get the perfect shape and yet, to my eyes, it is still not what I wanted.  I counted all the pins I used, it's 96 pieces!

Here it is now on the table and you can now see it's true shape unlike when it was not blocked yet:

 My mother put the candles as decoration.  Maybe I will try to look for candles with contrasting colors.
